Simulation Mode

Postby richdionne on Sun Nov 15, 2009 9:30 pm

Is there any thought to adding a "simulation mode" that would allow the user/programmer to fire cues in the cue stack and see the movement in the stage view, without having to be connected to Stagehands, or, if need be, connected to Stagehands but with Stagehands not connected to actual motors/scenery? Obviously, this would negate any ability to troubleshoot the mechanism or motor tuning, but would allow the programmer to at least understand that their cues were working "as expected."

This would also be an incredibly useful feature for those of us working in academic environments, where it's not exactly feasible to create a full-stage model for every class project students work on. :)

Hi Rich,

Yes, there's been thought put towards a simulation mode, but the cost/benefit ratio is hard to justify. At the moment, the "Preview" mode does allow you to visually step through the show and see all the different looks of the cues, albeit in a static way.

I'm not ruling this feature out, but we've got a couple other things to chew on first. I agree that an animated simulation view would be great in academia, but also valuable in professional shows to help technicians & artistic staff communicate.

Thanks for the feedback.
